Accessibility statement
I want this site to work for everyone who visits it, including people who use a keyboard, a screen reader, magnification, voice control or reduced motion.
Conformance target
The target is WCAG 2.2 Level AA. The site partially conforms: the last round of automated and keyboard testing found no Level A or AA failures on the pages tested, but the known gaps listed below remain.
How the site is tested
Last tested on , against commit 8f96114. That pass covered the home, portfolio, contact, blog, blog post, case study and résumé pages and the 404 page:
- Automated checks with axe-core against the WCAG 2.2 A and AA rules, in light and dark mode, at desktop and phone widths.
- Keyboard-only use: skip link, tab order, visible focus, the mobile menu and the résumé section menu.
- Zoom and reflow at 320 and 640 CSS pixels wide (400% and 200% zoom).
- Reduced motion and forced-colors (high contrast) modes.
- Colour contrast for text, controls and focus indicators, measured with the WCAG 2.x ratio.
This testing was done in Chromium. Automated tools find only part of the problems a real person runs into, which is why the screen-reader testing below is still on the list.
Known limitations
- The downloadable résumé PDF has no document title and its section headings aren't tagged as headings. A corrected version is on the way. The résumé page on this site has the same content in accessible HTML.
- Some project screenshots have short text alternatives rather than full descriptions.
- The site hasn't yet been tested with VoiceOver, NVDA or TalkBack, or in Safari and Firefox.
- Links to other sites (GitHub, LinkedIn, the Fortify demo app and client sites) go to content I don't control, which may not meet the same standard.
